Rektor Institut Filsafat dan Teknologi Kreatif Ledalero, Dr. Otto Gusti Ndegong Madung, meraih penghargaan atas papernya yang dipresentasikan dalam 6th Conference on Human Rights pada 25 & 26 Oktober 2023 di Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta.

Konferensi HAM ke-6 ini mengambil tema Indigeneity and Human Rights in Asia and the Pacific Towards a Just Society: Challenges and Opportunities atau Masyarakat Adat dan HAM di Asia dan Pasifik Menuju Masyarakat yang Adil: Tantangan dan Peluang. Pater Otto, demikian sapaannya, menulis paper bersama dua rekannya, Adison Adrianus Sihombing dari Badan Riset dan Inovasi Nasional dan Zaenuddin Hudi Prasojo dari Institut Agama Islam Negeri Pontianak, dengan judul Human Rights and Views of Catholic Church under Habermas' Discourse Theory: Discovering Common Ground in Differences.

Paper tersebut terpilih sebagai paper terbaik dari total 160 paper yang dipresentasikan dalam konferensi ini.

Berikut adalah kesimpulan paper tersebut:
1) In the context of plural society, this model of grounding human rights in a discourse perspective that transcends religions is highly relevant. However, even though religion cannot be used as an ethical basis for the foundation of human rights understanding, the role of religion in promoting and advocating human rights remains relevant and significant. 2) Every religion has an intuition of humanity that goes beyond the communitarian solidarity of religions themselves. 3) From a historical review on the relationship between human rights and views of Catholic Church Christianity in Europe, we see that the concept of human dignity as the ethical foundation of human rights developed in the tradition of natural law that is synergized with Judeo-Christian teachings.

Konferensi ini diselenggarakan oleh Departemen Politik dan Pemerintahan Universitas Gadjah Mada, Centre for Human Rights, Multiculturalism, and Migration Universitas Jember, Sydney Southeast Asia Centre University of Sydney, Balitbang Hukum dan HAM Kementerian Hukum dan HAM, Komnas HAM, ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights Indonesia, Indonesian Consortium for Religious Studies, Center for Religious and Cross Cultural Studies Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesian Scholar Network on Freedom of Religion or Belief, Serikat Pengajar Hak Asasi Manusia Indonesia, Westminster Foundation for Democracy, serta Global Campus of Human Rights Italia.
